I personally love question guides and checklists– often I find it’s easy to make assumptions about what people know or do not know. Similarly, it can be easy to believe they are doing well, when in truth it may be that they just not have shared because it has not been asked. I used some of these questions this week, and was surprised to learn that some families knew little about psychosis and the diagnosis. My assumption was that if you have been with the program for a while, some of the basic information would have been retained or googled by now! I appreciate the comments about how some of these questions are more pertinent in certain stages. That said, I wonder if assumptions could also get in the way here. Using the self-care example, while it is helpful in the acute phase, sometime feelings of burnout can happen after the crisis period has passed. Just some thoughts!
