Reply To: Patient Centered Assessments

This is my first introduction to the 2-Com. The opportunity to further discuss problems that clients identify is great. How many times have any of us sat through something with a lot of information, and then at the end not really remember what was discussed? Having the opportunity to touch back on problems the client would like to address, may highlight some of the topics discussed. opportunity It also can provide a potential pathway for client to start thinking about what treatment goals may be important to them.
I believe it’s important for clients to feel a sense of autonomy and asking them whether or not they would like to talk about certain things is one way to provide this. I’m also reminded of the importance of doing updated assessments, as one’s decision to talk about something may change as they build more rapport with their case manager.
