Reply To: Family Involvement

I am relatively new to EPI, but I wholeheartedly recognize the indispensable role of family involvement in the process of recovery. However, there are definitely some barriers. Amongst the foremost challenges is the disheartening reality that certain parents remain uninvolved and disengaged from their child’s life and educational journey. In contrast, certain parents exhibit a level of control that can stifle their children’s autonomy and decision-making, impeding their path towards independence and recovery. Moreover, for some of our clients, complex family dynamics stemming from events like divorce or separation add an extra layer of complexity to the equation, further diminishing the level of familial support and involvement. It is incumbent upon us to navigate these challenges and develop strategies to surmount these obstacles, recognizing that successful collaboration with families is an essential cornerstone of our work.
