I ask at my first OT meeting about romantic and sexual relationships and if there are any issues or concerns. I think it sets the tone, and that it’s an important topic to discuss and ask about, and that they can feel free to bring it up in future conversations. I also ask non-judgmentally about whether they think the meds are working for them, and clients always seem to answer this question honestly. With weight gain, I have discussions on increasing healthy lifestyle behaviors. I think engagement and participation in meaningful activities can shift the focus of the conversation versus how the meds are not working for them.
