I recently also had a client who had concerns regarding their lithium and they have been really leaning towards “not wanting to be on this forever.” I worked with my client to be able to put words to voicing their concerns within their psychiatry appointment, as they will often remain fairly quiet about some of these pieces. This allowed them to have a voice in their treatment planning, and they were able to hear from psychiatry about the risks and benefits of lithium further which appears to have helped them manage their thoughts regarding this lately.

I am also fairly new to EPI, but I really enjoy the close teamwork that is used with me interacting closely with psychiatry and family doctor, as well as with family in the treatment of my clients. This collaboration and shared care has been helpful in gaining perspectives, knowledge and support in managing the challenges of medication adherence.
